JAMB UTME 2015: IMO State Records The Highest Number Of Applicants/Candidates

Information reaching us some moments ago has it that the statistics gotten from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) shows that a greater number of candidates applied for admission in Imo State. The news has it that with 104,381 applicants/candidates, Imo State now has the highest number of applicants for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).

They were followed by Delta State, and Anambra State

  • Delta State recorded 78,854 applicants
  • Anambra State recorded 77,689 applicants

Latest Nigerian University and School News GistIn a press briefing by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, he revealed that with 4,085 applicants, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has the lowest number of candidates.

He also added that the three North-east sates recorded as follows:

  • Borno state recorded 15,692 candidates
  • Adamawa State recorded 15,613 candidates
  • Yobe State recorded 10,044 candidates

The statistics also has it that JAMB recorded a 10 percent decrease in the number of registered candidates compared to last year’s UTME exercise.

Prof. Dibu Ojerinde however attributed the decrease in the number of applicants to insecurity in some parts of the country.
